Independant Research - Collateral

Collateral (2004) - Directed by: Michael Mann, Written by: Stuart Beattie

Although this movie is about a cab driver finding himself taken hostage by a contract killer. When looking at the opening scene and our opening scene that we want to complete.  We would want both our movie and collateral to look very similar though narrative and genre. At the beginning of the sequence in collateral, there is a man carrying a suitcase in a public place (an airport) and walking though people at a busy period during the day he is also looking suspicious and wearing sunglasses. He then bumps into someone were they swap bags and then carry on with their business. In our opening sequence we want to have a young suspicious man walking through a public place in London, maybe at  Waterloo station or New Malden station were the main protagonist is walking fast, we also want to involve bags  in the main narrative which we think would make the audience question what is in there and what is going to happen. however to make the plot more interesting we could put in a chase scene to build up the tension. so when looking at collateral and our opening scene we want to create both tension and suspense to catch the imagination of the audience.
